SOM Reunion Committee

Volunteers Make an Impact. Here’s How.

A strong reunion committee results in a successful reunion experience for you and your classmates.

As a reunion co-chair or committee member, you help classmates reconnect with each other, Tulane, and New Orleans in two main ways:

  1. Attend Reunion Weekend and encourage your classmates to so the same
  2. Celebrate the power of collective giving by making a gift to Tulane School of Medicine in honor of your reunion year and encourage your classmates to do the same.

Volunteering on the committee takes less time than you may think – typically between four and five hours total over the course of the reunion year.

Reunion committee members help by:

  • Reaching out to your classmates about Reunion Weekend and your class gift via personal phone calls, emails, texts, letters, social media messages, etc. Track your outreach efforts on a committee spreadsheet provided.
  • Lending your name to School of Medicine communications.
  • Joining your private class Facebook group, found here, and engaging with reunion posts by liking, commenting, sharing, and creating your own posts with photos, memories, or reunion plans.
  • Attending Reunion Weekend.
  • Making a special gift in honor of your reunion to support your class gift.

Your reunion class officer will help by:

  • Preparing draft emails/texts/social media messages, as well as scripts for phone calls/voicemails.
  • Providing your classmates contact info through a spreadsheet, where you and your fellow volunteers will track your outreach efforts.
  • Hosting and recording two Zoom committee trainings/meetings with details on everything volunteers need to know, updates on Reunion Weekend, and an opportunity for volunteers to catch up with your classmates on the committee before the reunion.
  • Sharing regular email updates on committee efforts and reminders.
  • Answering questions and offering support as needed to all reunion volunteers.
