Be a Leader at the School of Medicine

1834 Society

Tulane School of Medicine was built on audacious leadership. In 1834 its precursor, the Medical College of Louisiana, sprang forth from the pioneering vision of Drs. Thomas Hunt, Warren Stone and John Harrison. Each only 26 years old, they saw the tremendous need for a school to train physicians to fight New Orleans’ deadly yellow-fever and cholera epidemics. Through their leadership, Tulane School of Medicine was born—the second-oldest medical school in the Deep South and the 15th-oldest such school in the U.S.

The School of Medicine continues to grow, educate, research, innovate and provide care into the 21st century and needs your support to continue this momentum. By joining the 1834 Society with a gift of $2,500 or more, you honor those three trailblazing young doctors who founded what became Tulane University—while also becoming a philanthropic partner for the School of Medicine.

Your gift impacts every aspect of our mission—educating tomorrow’s medical leaders, performing innovative research and healing individuals and communities through patient care. Members of the 1834 Society help provide student scholarships, fund groundbreaking research and address critical needs and exciting opportunities as they arise.

PLEASE JOIN THE 1834 SOCIETY TODAY BY MAKING YOUR ANNUAL GIFT OF $2,500 OR MORE. The membership cycle runs yearly from July 1 to June 30. Please contact Ally Bradley at 504.247.1833 or email 1834society@tulane.edu for more information.
